ISA Head: Iran to launch 3 new satellites

Head of the Iranian Space Agency (ISA) has announced the launch of 3 new domestically-made satellites to orbit the earth by the end of this year (which ends in March 2020).

Iran PressIran news: Head of the Iranian Space Agency (ISA)Morteza Barari said on Sunday that the decision has been made to accomplish the tasks related by Nahid 1 telecommunication satellite and Zafar and Pars 1 remote sensing satellites to orbit them this year.

He added that Zafar and Pars 1 satellites enjoy the resolutions of 22.5m and 15m, respectively, Iran Press reported.

"We are trying to build a sensing satellite with the resolution of 1m by 2025," Barari said.

The ISA chief stressed that no country had assisted Iran in the development of satellites launched by the country so far, adding that the Islamic Republic's top universities had instead made good strategic and long-term investments in the field.

In February 2017, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani unveiled 3 new achievements in the space industry, including Payam, which has been made in Tehran’s Amirkabir University of Technology with the mission to send remotely-sensed data, and high-resolution images, with resolutions better than 40 meters.

In July 2017, Iran inaugurated the Imam Khomeini National Space Center with the successful test-launch of a homegrown satellite carrier named Simorgh. The center administrates the development, launch, and navigation of Iranian satellite carriers.
