Iran condemns Saudi statement and regrets Saudi misuse of OIC as the host country

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman condemned a statement by Saudi Arabia regarding the Mecca summit, regretting Saudi Arabia's misuse of the fact that it hosts the OIC summit.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a statement on Friday, Seyyed Abbas Mousavi said Iran is certain that such hostile statements do not reflect the views of all member states taking part in the meeting, Iran Press reported.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman regretted Saudi Arabia's misuse of the fact that it hosts the OIC summit, and strongly condemned a statement by some Arab countries which makes allegations against Iran.

Seyyed Abbas Mousavi added: "We consider Saudi Arabia’s attempt to rally neighbouring countries and Arab countries against Iran as the continuation of a futile process that the United States and the Zionist regime are pursuing against the Islamic Republic."

Mousavi went on to say: "The long-standing goal of the Zionist regime is to distract the Muslim and Arab countries from their main and common enemy."

Earlier, Iran's ambassador to France Bahram Ghassemi, while addressing a conference titled 'Reducing Tensions in the Persian Gulf' which was held at the French Senate on May 27, 2019 said: "We are and have been ready to interact, negotiate and clear misunderstandings with certain Persian Gulf littoral states."  213/211/209
