Secretary of Iran's High Council for Human Rights condemned US cruel sanctions against Iran.

Iran Press/Europe: "US illegal and inhumane sanctions against Iran have hampered the full realization of economic and social development and the enjoyment of basic human rights, including life, health, and employment," Mohammad Javad Larijani said while speaking at the 34th session of Universal Periodic Review (UPR) in Geneva.

The secretary of Iran's High Council for Human Rights referred to the country's achievements in the field of human rights and criticized US inhumane measures, adding, "human dignity and human rights are not gifts of the United Nations or the achievement of Western and European societies but it is a part of our rationality rooted in Islam," Iran Press reported.

US President Donald Trump withdrew from Iran's nuclear deal in May 2018 and reimposed sanctions on Tehran.

In response, the Islamic Republic of Iran has reduced its commitments to the nuclear deal in four steps.
