Turkey has ordered to impose a 48-hour curfew in 31 provinces which is a part of its plan to contain the spread of coronavirus, the country’s Interior Ministry announced on Friday.

Iran PressAsia: The new order went into effect from midnight Saturday until midnight Monday, according to Anadolu News Agency.

Bakeries, hospitals, pharmacies, and workplaces producing health products and medical supplies would continue to operate, the country’s Interior Ministry said in a statement.

Also, Turkey’s Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu called on people to remain calm and urged against panic buying, saying the curfew will end on Sunday midnight.  

On Friday, Turkey confirmed 98 more deaths from the coronavirus, bringing the death toll to 1,006.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases surged to 47,029 where a total of 2,423 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

Globally, more than 101,000 deaths have been confirmed from coronavirus since the beginning of the outbreak in China, according to figures compiled by the U.S.-based Johns Hopkins University.
