EU\'s top diplomat Josep Borrell

High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell strongly criticized the US government for unilaterally withdrawing from the 2105 nuclear agreement with Iran.

Iran PressAsia:  In an address on the third and final day of the Raisina Dialogue 2020 in New Delhi, he said the US jeopardized the progress made towards a stable and peaceful global regime, Economic Times website reported on Thursday.

It took 12 years to sign the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the EU's top diplomat added, and it is very difficult to reach a new deal.

Following the US re-imposition of sanctions and European Union failure in carrying out its commitments, Iran took retaliatory measures in 2019 and has scaled back its obligations under the JCPOA in five steps.

Tehran has said its measures are reversible and it will continue cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog IAEA.
