    Iran\'s Zarif meets Indian PM Narendra Modi

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi hours ago in New Delhi.

Iran Press/Asia: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the 5th annual session of Raisina Dialogue.

Bilateral ties, trade and economic cooperation, especially in the field of energy, cooperation in construction of Chabahar port and the most important regional and international issues were among the main topics of discussion at the meeting.

Prior to meeting Modi, Zarif met with India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Earlier, Zarif said India can play a role in de-escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf region as New Delhi is an important player.

Zarif arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday 14 January for a 3-day visit to attend in the 5th annual Raisina Dialogue, 14-16 January 2020.

The 5th annual session of Raisina Dialogue started in New Delhi on Tuesday 14 January and continues until Thursday 16 January.

At the annual Raisina Dialogue in India, 700 delegations from 103 countries, including political, economic, scientific and cultural figures from different parts of the world are present.

The Raisina Dialogue is a multilateral conference held annually in New Delhi. Since its inception in 2016, the conference has emerged as India’s flagship conference on geopolitics and geo-economics. 

Addressing the meeting and holding talks with high-ranking officials is on the agenda of Iran's top diplomat.
