Iran Press/Asia: Iran's First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri met the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov on the sideline of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on Saturday in Tashkent on November 2.
The First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri arrived in Uzbekistan on Friday to attend the 18th summit of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Iran Press reported.
Iran's first vice-president appreciated Uzbekistan for hosting SCO conference and said that Iran appreciates the existing cooperation among regional countries and believes they have an important role in establishing multilateralism.
Jahangiri noted to Iran-Uzbekistan $300 million trade and said Iran is ready to expand the level of mutual trade and is ready to cooperate with Uzbekistan in railroad transit for boosting of commercial exchanges.
Iran vice president expresses the hope that next month Iran and Uzbekistan joint economic commission could solve problems in expanding economic ties between two countries.
He said Iran is located in a place that it can connect the North, South, East, and West through transit connections, that’s why big investments have been made to create road and rail transit corridors, including North-South, Persian Gulf-Black Sea, Chabahar, ECO-passed, and air corridors.
Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov for his part, expressed his country's desire to use Iran's railroad transit to export its merchandise to other countries.
Aripov mentioned to the presence of more than 1000 Iranian companies in Uzbekistan and said that Tashkent opens its doors to Iranian private sector for boosting mutual trades.
In addition to attending the 18th summit of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the first vice-president of the country met with officials attending the summit to discuss the most important regional and international issues and topics of mutual interest.101/205
