Iran Press/America: The Maryland-based university's running tally counted 55,118 deaths and 972,969 cases in the US on Monday, as reported by Anadolu News Agency.
The US continues to lead worldwide cases and deaths related to the virus. Italy registers 26,644 deaths, followed by Spain with 23,521.
More than 107,200 people have recovered in the country, according to the data.
New York is the worst-hit state by the pandemic with 22,269 deaths and more than 288,000 cases, followed by New Jersey with 5,976 deaths and over 110,200 cases.
Since the virus emerged last December in the Chinese city of Wuhan, it has spread to at least 185 countries and regions.
There are more than 3 million confirmed infections globally with over 208,100 deaths, while nearly 879,000 people have recovered.
