Iran Press/Africa: New X-rays taken from the body of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), showed there are still pieces of shrapnel left inside his body, relating to the time he was assaulted and fired upon by the Nigerian Army in December 2015, Iran Press reported.
Hospital sources and Sheikh Zakzaky's relatives by releasing a photo of the Sheikh taken on 22 October 2019, have said: "As can be seen from the photographs in the report, a bullet of the Nigerian terrorist army blew away his left eye completely, blinding him in one eye."
A statement published by Sheikh Zakzaky's close relatives about the result of the radiology: "The whole world is aware that Sheikh Zakzaky needs urgent medical treatment, but the infamous gang of criminals who murdered three of his children are deliberately denying him medical treatment."
Relatives of Sheikh Zakzaky emphasized at the end of the statement: "These Wahhabi killers who were paid by the Saudi regime of savagery did everything they could to kill Sheikh Zakzaky. History certainly records such a peak of atrocity and barbarism of killer Wahhabis."
Sheikh Zakzaky was detained without trial for two years after his arrest in December 2015 until a Nigerian court made false charges against him in 2018.
Sheikh Zakzaky has been held in detention since December 2015 and was charged just in April 2018 with unlawful assembly and disruption of the public peace, allegations that are rejected by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN).
In 2016, Nigeria’s federal high court ordered his unconditional release from jail following a trial, but the government has so far refused to set him free.
In recent months, as Zakahy's health has deteriorated, human rights organizations have repeatedly called for the release of Nigeria's Shiite leader.
