Novak Djokovic, the number one tennis player in the world has been denied entry to the United States to play in two tournaments.

Iran PressAmerica: Serbian Djokovic, one of the most high-profile athletes unvaccinated against COVID, said last week he was hoping for a positive outcome shortly after applying to enter the US to compete in ATP Masters 1000 events in Indian Wells and Miami this month.

Djokovic missed the US Open last year and several previous tournaments. At that time, a Serb who refused to be vaccinated against the coronavirus was denied entry to the country in accordance with the rules of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The 35-year-old won a record-extending 10th Australian Open title and his 22nd Grand Slam in January.

“Joe Biden says the coronavirus is over but bans Djokovic from the Miami Open. That makes no sense. We need legislation now to fix this. It’s time to lift the vaccination requirement for people from other countries,” Scott wrote on Twitter.
