The deputy head of coordination council for promotion of Islam has emphasized that Iran faces a media onslaught by Western countries who are determined to spread misinformation and lies about the Islamic Republic.

Iran Press/Iran news: Referring to the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the  deputy head of coordination council for promotion of Islam, Nosratollah Lotfi said: "In a period of just five or six months, about 300 Persian language satellite channels went on air, spreading misinformation, prevarication, propaganda and lies about the Islamic revolution and the Islamic Republic, and doing their best to slander and sully the Islamic Republic, presenting a gloomy and untrue picture of Iran."

In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on the sideline of a press conference held on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution, Lotfi added: "The West equipped the terrorist group, Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) with media to spread lies and misinformation about Islamic Iran. It is not something new, the West trained and armed the terrorist organization MKO to fight against Iran during the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s, and today the MKO, again with Western and US assistance, is spreading false rumours and outright lies against the Islamic Republic."

Nosratollah Lotfi noted: "Regrettably there are many television and satellite channels, under the control of the arrogant powers and the Zionists, which broadcast misinformation and false news about Iran. Many of these channels are funded by Saudi oil money. However, Iranian media are countering Western media, and giving a strong response to the West in this media war."  101/211 /201
