Maduro warns of \'another Vietnam War\' if US invades Venezuela

Venezuelan president has warned that the United States will face another Vietnam war if it unwisely decides to invade his country.

Iran Press/Europe: Speaking on Sunday on the show "Salvados" from Spain's laSexta network, Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro warned the Trump administration by saying: “You are making mistakes that will leave your hands covered in blood and you will leave the presidency stained with blood. Why would you want a repeat of Vietnam?”

One week after US president Donald Trump recognized opposition leader, Juan Guaidó, as Venezuela's interim president, Maduro said: "Trump's administration intends to turn my Homeland into a 'Vietnam war' in Latin America."

The Trump administration has recognized Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó as interim president, and slapped sanctions on Venezuela’s state oil company.

Trump has also threatened Venezuela with military action.

The leader of Venezuela’s opposition-led National Assembly, Juan Guaidó, declared himself acting president on January 23 with the explicit support of the US and Washington's allies; a move that was described as a coup attempt against the country’s legal government.

In this regard Russia, China, Iran, Mexico, Bolivia, Cuba, Turkey support Maduro's government and reiterated that they recognize Nicolas Maduro as the lawful president of Venezuela.
