Iran Press/ Europe: The special meeting of the North-South intercontinental corridor with the presence of the countries on the route of this corridor and representing the 6 proposals of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran in order to complete this rail corridor as soon as possible was held.
According to the Iranpress news agency from St. Petersburg, coinciding with the 26th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, a special meeting on the North-South corridor was held with the presence of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, the Ministers of Transport and Transportation of Russia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, India, Kazakhstan, and Belarus.
At the beginning of this specialized meeting, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran said: "The unique geographical location of the Islamic Republic of Iran, having transportation infrastructure from north to south and from east to west, technical and engineering knowledge and valuable experiences in designing and building infrastructure projects, and Outstanding and unique opportunities to attract investment in projects to complete and develop infrastructure, including road, rail, sea, and air, are considered valuable opportunities."
Mehrdad Bazrpash added: "These features have made all players in the field of trade, logistics, and transportation in the region and at the international level benefit from these numerous advantages."
The Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran emphasized: "Based on the general policies announced by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution last September, the activation of geographical-political advantages and the transformation of the Islamic Republic of Iran into a center of commercial exchanges and services, energy, communications and transportation with Streamlining regulations and creating and developing necessary infrastructure is considered as one of the main and important policies."
He added: "Based on this, Iran, as a land of transit and logistics opportunities, as both a way and a solution, for safe, secure, easy, fast and economic links, a land for constructive competition and the participation of interested actors in the field of Transit and logistics will play a role.
He pointed to the word "Iran-Rah" and said:" In Farsi, this initiative is called Iran-Rah, and since "Rah" in Persian language means both the way and the solution, therefore all the countries of the region can solve most of their transit and logistics issues by using Iran's ways and capacities."
The Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran presented 6 proposals in order to realize the goals of the North-South railway crossing.
The participation of investors from the Russian side, including cargo owners, and transport and logistics companies, in the completion and development projects of the southern ports of Iran on the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea is the first proposal of Mehrdad Bazrpash.
The formation of joint logistics companies and small and medium-sized technological enterprises and new knowledge-based businesses in this field, the development of smart and digital technologies in transportation and transit relations between the two countries, with an emphasis on cargo monitoring systems, the integrated use of electronic transport documents and international transport, the participation of the parties in the construction and operation of logistics centers in the two countries, facilitating the presence of Russian international logistics companies in Iran and joint action in the development of shipping in the Caspian Sea with the priority of participation in the joint construction of vessels and the creation of regular and cheap shipping lines between the ports of the two countries were among the other proposals of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran in this meeting.
