Tehran (IP) - Iran's Minister of Oil says the country is enhancing the trade of gas with the neighboring countries.

Iran PressIran News: On the sidelines of the cabinet session on Wednesday, June 7, Javad Owji told reporters that Iran wants to increase its share of trading gas in the region.

Owji highlighted the construction and opening of transnational refineries as one of Iran's achievements of the Islamic Revolution.

He said that the goal of the refineries is to prevent the country to sell crude oil on the one hand and to enrich the oil exports with processed petro-products in order to enhance the income from the country's oil industry.

Still, in response to IranPress correspondence about the measure to make Iran a gas hub in the region, the oil minister said that the idea is being realized thanks to the huge gas resources in the country.

"Having 33 trillion m3 of gas reservoirs and thanks to the cooperation of Turkmenistan, Russia, and Qatar, we are trying to become a gas hub," he said, stating that the grounds are prepared for achieving the goal.
