Iran’s Health Minister Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi on Friday said that Tehran is seeking to obtain medicine and medical equipment from Brazil and that bilateral medical ties will be boosted.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's health minister, Seyyed Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi made the remarks during a meeting with Brazilian ambassador to Iran, Rodrigo de Azeredo Santos.

Referring to Brazil as one of the world’s emerging powers, Hashemi said, “I believe the world conditions have changed and the world is not just the US and the European countries; Communications have expanded and there are many different choices which nations can make,” reported Iran Press.

He said he believed Brazil could help Iran much more than some other countries, the European ones in particular, in the area of medical equipment technology, pharmaceutical industry, producing vaccines and even building and handling hospitals.

Referring to the reinstatement of sanctions on Iran, the minister said, “We have to abandon any hope of support from Europe and the US.”

He underlined the need for broad economic relations with Brazil and said that at this juncture Iran has to develop a long-term look at countries other than Europe and the US and this new approach should not be only for the duration of sanctions.

US lies about sanction-hit medical sector: Iranian Health Minister

Earlier on December 3, Seyyed Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi said, the United States lies when it says it hasn't imposed sanctions on our medical sector.

"With science-based pharmaceutical companies, defeating US sanctions targeting Iran, is not just lip service," Iranian health minister noted.

"The US secretary of state and president are after deceiving world public opinion. I have said many times that speaking of sanctions in the 21st century is nothing but a joke, specially for a country which has at least 15 neighbors," Ghazizadeh Hashemi said.   203/ 211 /103
