Iranian Health Minister Seyyed Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi said, the United States lies when it says it hasn't imposed sanctions on our medical sector.

Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking at a ceremony to unveil new homemade medicine, Seyyed Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi, accused US administration of lies and deceit saying US unilateral sanctions against Iran, have impeded trade of medicines.

According to Iran Press, Iranian Health Minister added, "As a result of the sanctions against Iran, pharmaceutical companies were not able to transfer money in the past month."

"With science-based pharmaceutical companies, defeating US sanctions targeting Iran, is not lip services," Iranian Health Minister noted.

"The US secretary of state and president are after deceiving the public opinion. I have said many times that speaking of sanctions in the 21st century is nothing but a joke, specially for a country which has at least 15 neighbors," Qazizadeh Hashemi said.

Iran on Monday unveiled six new home-made drugs, produced by science-based pharmaceutical companies.

On November 21, head of Iran's Red Crescent Society (IRCS) Ali Asghar Peivandi has said US sanctions that target humanitarian items such as food and medicine, are definitely targeting the Iranian people.

"Sanctions imposed on Iran by the enemies of the country are not limited to the present time. The sanctions have been going on for forty years," the head of Iran's Red Crescent Society noted.

Head of Iran’s Food and Drug Administration Gholam Reza Jafari said a sum of $2 billion has been allotted to the supply of medicine and basic pharmaceutical material, and $1.5 billion in funds has been disbursed for the import of medical equipment.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on 10 November that US sanctions are targeting the Iranian people, and that the sanctions are meant to negatively affect the lives of ordinary Iranians.

New US sanctions on Iranian financial firms, including a bank that until recently handled most payments for Iran’s imports of humanitarian goods, are having a chilling effect on foreign companies that help supply medicine and other medical products, economic analysts said according to the Washington Post.
