Tehran (IP) - Secretary-General of Iran's High Council for Human Rights says the enemies of the Islamic Republic spared no efforts to subjugate the Iranian nation and make them a dependent nation.

Iran PressIran News: Kazem Gharibabadi delivered a speech in a ceremony held on Monday evening to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Khordad 15's uprising against the US-backed former monarchical regime of Shah.

Kazem Gharibabadi said on Monday that the enemies thought they could subject the Iranian nation again to them through maximum pressure, but so far, all their plans have been foiled due to the people's support for the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a situation where the enemies have targeted the people's faith and hope, he said, the only thing that can save the country from dependence on foreign countries is to follow the religious principles and values and follow Imam Khomeini's school of thought.

It was in June 1963 when the Pahlavi regime's elements stormed into a cleric's home and detained him due to his expository speech against the ruling regime; the cleric was the imminent founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Today, June 5, 2023 (Khordad 15) is the 60th anniversary of Imam Khomeini's arrests and the beginning of the historic uprise of the Iranian nation against the regime of the Shah, which led to the victory of the Islamic Revolution 16 years later.
