Raisi before leaving for Jakarta:

Tehran (IP) - Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi left Tehran for Jakarta, Indonesia at the head of a political and economic delegation.

Iran PressIran news: The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran is traveling to Jakarta at the official invitation of the President of Indonesia, in a bid to deepen and expand the economic, political, and cultural relations.

Before leaving for Indonesia, the president said: "The relations between the two countries, Iran and Indonesia, have a long history."

He said: "Indonesia is an important and populated country and has an important position in the region. It is a member of ASEAN, non-aligned countries, D8, etc., and it is the largest Islamic country in terms of population and has deep relations with Iran."

"Trade and economic relations with Indonesia are good but should be increased," the president noted.

He said that the two countries are trying to cooperate in the fields of economy, trade, technology, and energy including oil and gas, and petrochemicals.

Raisi added: "In addition to meeting with Indonesian political officials, I am also going to have meetings with scientific and religious officials of that country."

"We will sign memorandums of understanding in trade, economy, culture, and health," Raisi said, adding: "The Islamic Republic of Iran has common views on international issues, we are both against unilateralism and in favor of peace and security."
