Iranian Parliament Speaker, Ali Larijani, has hailed the friendly, sincere and brotherly relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, saying the friendly relations are rooted in the history of the two nations.

Iran news: Speaking at a joint press conference in Tehran on Tuesday, with Ogtay Asadov, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ali Larijani said: "Fortunately, parliamentary and governments relations of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan is very close, and they have similar points of view and interests in many different subjects and that's why the consultations between the two countries are very close."

Calling Ogtay Asadov a prominent person, Larijani added: "During the meeting, we talked on the development of parliamentary relations and, in particular, making the parliamentary friendship groups of both countries more active, as well as the expansion of economic and commercial ties and facilitation of investment," Iran Press reported.

The Azeri delegation is slated to meet with Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani during their two-day visit to Iran.

Heading a parliamentary delegation, Asadov arrived in Tehran Tuesday morning.

He also held meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani today and the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest.  208/ 211 /103
