Tehran (IP) - Iran's Minister of Information and Communications Technology says the current administration seriously pursues ICT projects and has taken historic steps in this way.

Iran PressIran news: Delivering a speech on Wednesday in the opening ceremony of ICT projects, Isa Zarepour said that today is the beginning of a historic movement in the country's communications industry with the projects being opened.

Zarepour referred to the information national network project as the pivot of the ICT projects in the country, highlighting the eye-catching progress in the project such that within the 20 months passed from the current administration it has advanced over 30 percent which will be completed by the end of the end of the administration. In less than 2 years the share of the digital economy in the country's GDP has reached 7.5 from 6.4 percent' he said. 

The ICT minister stated that in the 7th plan of development, the digital economy has been allowed as a key area which is indicative of the administration's special focus on the issue. 

The opening ceremony of information and communication technology was held on the occasion of the World Day of Communication with the utilization of the optical fiber projects.

Also, on the sidelines of the cabinet session on Wednesday, May 17, Isa Zarepour told reporters that the plan is ready to cover 100 cities in the country for 3 million people. 

Zarepour said that until the end of the current Persian year, the optical fiber service will cover up to 10 million households. 

He noted that with the nationwide coverage of the project, in all cities and villages, mobile communication antennas will also be activated through optical fiber.

The ICT minister said that the service by the three nest years, the people in the country will have enjoyed the optical fiber service.
