Iran Press/ Iran News: President Ebrahim Raisi traveled to Syria last week at the invitation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The president was accompanied by six ministers.
Nasser Kanaani, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in his weekly press conference on Monday, in response to Iran Press question, explained the dimensions of the president's visit to Syria and then the importance of Syria's return to the Arab League.
Kanaani said: "The president's visit to Syria was important after the victory of the resistance axis, and the re-establishment of relations between the two countries took place in the post-terrorism phase."
He added: "The economic and commercial sphere was very important, and in addition to general negotiations, various aspects of economic cooperation were also examined during the trip."
Kanaani added: "The main focus of the two countries is to be able to provide the necessary fields in the economic area in addition to the political field and the fight against terrorism, so that the interests of the two countries are secured."
A comprehensive and long-term document of cooperation in 30 paragraphs was signed by the presidents.
Also,15 economic and commercial documents, especially regarding the economic activities of the private sector, were also signed by the authorities of the two countries.
He stated that the trip was a celebration of the victory of the resistance axis countries, and added: "In addition to the official visits of the president, there were also informal visits."
Referring to Iran's support for the axis of resistance in the region regarding Syria's return to the Arab League, Kanaani said: "Due to the return, the stability of Syria's official activity has been provided."
Iran welcomes the fact that countries in the region can build new ways of cooperation and we hope to witness the strengthening of relations in the region.
