Tehran (IP) - Iran's deputy defense minister for international affairs said that Iran considers itself obliged to help friendly countries like Syria in the field of empowering air defense and countering air targets.

Iran PressIran news: Brigadier General Hamzeh Qalandari, Iran's deputy defense minister for international affairs, told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting in Tehran: "After the lifting of arms sanctions in October 2020, we are witnessing many countries turning to using Iranian weapons."

He added: "An important point that should not be overlooked is an important feature that exists in Iranian weapons, and that is the display of Iranian knowledge and technology in the international arena. After using Iranian weapons, foreign countries have witnessed the stunning growth of Iran's knowledge and technology, which has made them wonder how a country that has been under sanctions for years has reached such a level of development that its weapons are at the edge of global technology."

Brigadier General Hamzeh Qalandari continued: "But the humanitarian aspect of the Islamic Republic is another factor that has caused the growth of arms exports of the Islamic Republic. Another point is that the Islamic Republic has paid attention to the transfer of technology to other countries. We have helped many of our neighboring and friendly countries not only in terms of equipment and weapons, but also in the field of defense weapons manufacturing technology. On the other hand, we have witnessed the presence of the Ministry of Defense in international exhibitions and the widespread acceptance of Iranian defense products by other countries."

The Deputy Minister of International Affairs of the Ministry of Defense referred to Iran's cooperation with Syria in the field of strengthening air defense: "A point that should not be overlooked is that in the past Syria was really a defenseless country against the Zionist regime's air attacks, but currently, a large amount of air attacks are being repelled by the Syrian government, and we consider ourselves obliged to help friendly countries like Syria in the field of empowering air defense and countering air targets."
