Amir-Abdollahian:

Moscow(IP)- Iran's foreign minister stated that the country and Russia relations are on the right track and enhancing.

Iran PressEurope: Heading a delegation to Russia in response to Sergey Lavrov's invitation, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Moscow on Wednesday and met with a number of Russian officials including his counterpart and the Deputy Speaker of Duma.

Meeting with the Deputy Speaker of Duma, Leonid Slutsky, Iran's foreign minister highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and said that there is a unique mechanism in this regard at the level of the parliaments of the two countries. 

He stated: "We will jointly use our efforts to expand the political, economic, commercial, defense, and energy infrastructure and will strengthen it."

The Deputy Speaker of Russia's Duma, for his part, underlined that Russia intends to expand regional and international relations and cooperation with Iran. 

He said: "These relations will continue successfully in all fields." 

The Russian official referred to the North-South Corridor project passing through Iran and said that the corridor is a suitable alternative to the Suez Canal and the Black Sea Strait and can load many goods from India and Pakistan and enter St. Petersburg, and even the whole of Europe.

While appreciating the Iranians for their transparent and unprecedented cooperation with Russia, he added: "We believe that we can complete railway projects within the next three and a half years."

He also announced Russian Vice President will travel to Tehran on April 7, 2023, to follow up on the project.
