Tehran (IP) - In a telephone conversation with his Swiss counterpart, Iran's foreign minister emphasized the necessity of preserving the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Iran PressIran news: Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Federal Councillor for Foreign Affairs of Switzerland Ignazio Cassis discussed the most important bilateral, regional, and global concerns.

Referring to Iran's policy of maintaining the territorial integrity of countries, including Ukraine, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Iran is against the continuation of the war and is therefore ready to help speed up the resolution of the crisis.

While appreciating the efforts of the Swiss government for the representation of Iranian interests in Riyadh, Amir-Abdollahian said: "We are ready to hold a meeting with the Saudis to reopening the embassies of the two countries."

He also pointed to the good and historical relations between Iran and the Swiss Confederation and announced Iran's readiness to hold the third round of the joint commission between the two countries.

Swiss top diplomat also termed the agreement between Iran and Saudi Arabia to re-establish diplomatic relations as a turning point in peace and stability in the region.

Ignazio Cassis assessed the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Switzerland as positive and expressed his satisfaction with the successful holding of the consultation meeting between the two countries.

He further welcomed the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran to help peace in Ukraine.
