Tehran (IP) - The Iranian Government Spokesman said that INSTEX was a system just on paper and a European fun.

Iran PressIran news: INSTEX is a system that European countries launched in 2019 to protect trade with Iran against US sanctions. High-ranking European officials have repeatedly admitted that since private companies cannot be forced to do business with a country, INSTEX is only a symbolic measure.

At his weekly press conference on Tuesday, March 14, Ali Bahadori Jahromi said that the Europeans developed INSTEX just to get rid of the embarrassment caused by the US scrapping of the JCPOA.

Iran's international nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was signed between the country and the P5+1 group, including Russia, China, the UK, France, the US, and Germany in 2015, but the US withdrew from the agreement on May 18, 2018, re-imposing more sanctions on Iran.

Bahadori Jahromi told reporters that now these are the Europeans that must be held accountable for the failed INSTEX.

He noted that the world would judge the Europeans' fulfilling their promises and their loyalty to their proposals.

European countries announced on Thursday, March 9, 2023, that they have shut down the INSTEX system.

West not the solution to region's issues: Gov't. Spox

Ali Bahadori-Jahromi made the comment in response to Iran Press regarding the new chapter opened with the restoration of Iran-Saudi Arabia ties in the region.

Bahadori Jahromi noted at his weekly press conference on Tuesday that the government's foreign policy from the beginning was the development of neighborhood relations and regional diplomacy.

He further stressed: Other countries also welcomed the restoration of relations so that the management of the region is carried out by the regional countries.

Iran and Saudi Arabia agree in the Chinese capital of Beijing to restore their diplomatic relations seven years after they were severed over several issues.

Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, expressed an all-round willingness to continue the constructive dialogue, fully implement their consensus, enhance good neighborliness, and jointly safeguard regional security.

The deal is most assuredly bad news for the US and worse for Israel.
