The 9th round of political consultations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Sultanate of Oman was held in the presence of the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs on Sunday, March 12, in the Omani capital Muscat.

Iran PressMiddle East: In the meeting, Sheikh Khalifah al-Harithi, Deputy for Diplomatic Affairs of Oman’s Foreign Ministry, headed the Omani delegation.

The two sides extensively discussed the main issues of mutual interest at bilateral, regional, and international levels and expressed their views.

During the meeting, Ali Bagheri said that the new situation in the region calls for an increased push for consultations between the officials of Iran and Oman.

For his part, Sheikh Khalifah al-Harithi said, “In recent years, we have witnessed a rise in trade exchanges between the two countries, and this increase shows that the necessary potential to promote trade cooperation exists, and we need to use this potential.”

Harithi also said during the new era that began after Sultan Qabus took the helm in Oman, the Sultanate has been seeking to boost interaction and cooperation with the aim of establishing and maintaining peace in the region. And has also pursued this policy in its relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

At the end of the session, Bagheri and Harithi signed the minutes of the meeting of the 9th session of the Joint Strategic Committee of Iran and Oman.
