Belarus and Iran plan to open direct flight between the two countries shortly, Belarusian Ambassador said ahead of the country's President Alexander Lukashenko’s visit to Tehran.

Iran PressIran News: Dmitry Koltsov, in an interview with Beltai news agency of Belarus on Saturday, added: " the resumption of the direct flight between Minsk and Tehran will be an important factor for the expansion of economic cooperation between Belarus and Iran."

"The direct flight will, of course, become a powerful factor for expansion of economic cooperation between Belarus and Iran," he said.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will arrive in Tehran tomorrow Sunday for an official meeting and discussion with high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a statement, the Office of the President of Belarus added: "Lukashenko will stay in Tehran for two days, during which he will meet and talk with Iranian President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi."

On the sidelines of the 16th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Samarkand, the presidents of Iran and Belarus tasked the foreign ministries of the two countries to work to strengthen and deepen bilateral relations.

In February, the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus announced that Belarusian and Iranian aviation authorities "carried out a work on opening of air service from Tehran to Minsk and back."
