Tehran (IP) - Institutional formation in the army of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the four forces of ground, sea, air and air defense under the title of Self-Sufficiency Research and Jihad Organization has led to the presentation of creative plans to meet the operational requirements of these forces in view of the new changes in the field of modern warfare.

Iran PressIran news: In this regard, the design and production of unmanned combat vehicles, which are a combination of artificial intelligence and robotic knowledge, is considered one of the new achievements of the Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army.

Design and production of artificial intelligence-based vehicles

The knowledge of artificial intelligence is one of the new sciences that has shown its importance in all fields, especially in the military field, during the last few decades. The armed forces of major countries have been using this science in recent years, a clear example of which can be seen in many robots and drones.

The use of artificial intelligence in the field of robotics has been popular in the world for several years. In this regard and considering the importance of the field of artificial intelligence, the research centers of the Islamic Republic of Iran have been working towards the use of artificial intelligence in various fields for several years and have taken steps in this regard and the use of artificial intelligence in areas such as robotic vehicles, artillery shells, simulators and drones has been among the most important areas of application of this science in the armed forces. Of course, these centers still consider the use of artificial intelligence and find new applications for it.

Ground force products

In recent years, the Ground Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army has moved towards the design and construction of UAVs (remotely controlled vehicles) with various applications by using artificial intelligence and operationalizing it; the equipment that has shown its importance in recent years and due to the recent irregular wars in West Asia. The Organization of Research and Self-sufficiency of the Army Ground Force, considering the situation of Islamic Iran and considering the climatic conditions of West Asia, has moved towards the design and manufacturing of drones and produced them in accordance with the current knowledge of the world.

In this regard, it has designed and produced several unmanned combat vehicles. Nazir, Heider-1, and Caracal are unmanned combat vehicles or remotely piloted vehicles produced by the Army Ground Forces Self-Sufficiency Research and Jihad Organization, each of which has its own uses and characteristics.

Nazir's unmanned vehicle

Nazir unmanned combat vehicle was unveiled at April 18, 2015 parade of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army. Nazir was showcased at the 40th Authority exhibition in February 2019. Nazir combat vehicle is a remotely controlled unmanned vehicle that is designed and produced in two types of 4 and 6 wheels. This car uses a highly flexible and ubiquitous chassis that is able to move on any type of terrain with different complications. The Nazir engine is an electric engine that has given it a great advantage due to its silence, and that is the possibility of operating secretly in operational areas. This engine has been able to increase Nazir's operational range to 2 km and is able to carry out reconnaissance missions in operational areas using the optical detection system. The mentioned system has the ability to target at night and day and in adverse weather. Nazir has the ability to plan for reconnaissance and combat missions. Also, on both sides of Nazir, there are smoke grenade launchers, which can be used to camouflage oneself in times of conflict. Also, the use of an electric motor reduces the possibility of its detection in cases of conflict.

This unmanned vehicle can carry out its mission unexpectedly in air and ground operational levels. Nazir is able to identify targets at all hours of the day by using the optical identification system. Also, the use of offensive and defensive weapons in it has increased offensive and defensive power in the face of enemy helicopters, armored, tactical vehicles, and infantry. Nazir has the ability to place a medium weapon, the size of a 7.62-machine gun or an anti-aircraft or anti-armor missile. In this regard, Nazir is equipped with various weapons, which has turned it into a defense vehicle in addition to a ground combat vehicle. The important thing about Nazir is the use of stealth technology to hide the weapons so that the enemy does not notice the weapons of this vehicle and when necessary, these weapons can come out from inside the vehicle.

Heidar-1 unmanned vehicle

The design and production of Heidar-1 robotic vehicle should be considered the next step of the Army Ground Forces in the field of manufacturing these types of vehicles. On October 3, 2019, the Army Ground Forces unveiled Heider's vehicle on the occasion of Holy Defense Week. Heidar-1 unmanned vehicle is a 6 x 6 lying chassis with two antennas or cameras that are placed on the pillars of the car. These robots have different functions such as sniper, destruction, mine thrower and reconnaissance. One of the important capabilities of "Heider-1" is the possibility of its network orientation to carry out operations in coordination with other equipment and weapons.

Caracal unmanned vehicle

The Caracal unmanned combat vehicle, like the Nazir and Heider-1 unmanned combat vehicles, is one of the products and achievements of the Army Ground Forces Self-Sufficiency Research and Jihad Organization, which was unveiled on September 27, 2020, on the occasion of the Sacred Defense Week.

Caracal is a smart car that uses an independent suspension system. The maximum speed of Caracal is 30 km/h and can provide a significant opportunity for commanders to carry out tactical operations. This robotic vehicle is capable of carrying light and semi-heavy weapons and is equipped with an intelligent remote control system and a laser range finder and an optical system. This vehicle is designed for ground combat and is very agile and has an independent suspension system. The operational range of Caracal is more than 500 meters.
