Iraq (IP) - The custodian of Imam Kazim's (AS) Holy Shrine said pilgrims in million participated in the mourning ceremonies held on the anniversary of His martyrdom.

Iran PressMiddle East: Thursday, February 16, 2023, Rajab 25, 1444 AH, was the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Kazim (AS), the Shias' seventh Imam. 

Heidar al-Shammari said that more than 12 million pilgrims took part in the mourning rituals of the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Kazim (AS) on Thursday. 

Al-Shammari appreciated all those who were involved in the successful holding of the mourning processions, admiring the efforts of the Prime Minister and the security forces for maintaining the security during the ceremony.

He said the number of pilgrims was constantly increasing. 

Al-Shammari added that 2,000 Mowkibs, 5,000 volunteers, and 83 media were present in al-Kadhimayn Shrine for the successful holding of the event.

Al-Kadhimayn Shrine is a Shia Islamic mosque and shrine located in the Kadhimayn suburb of Baghdad, Iraq. It contains the tombs of the seventh and ninth Twelver Shia Imams, respectively Imam Musa al-Kaẓim (AS) and his grandson Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (AS).
