Russia (IP) - Scores of Russian senior officials and ambassadors of different countries to Russia attended the ceremony celebrating the 44th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution's victory.

Iran PressEurope: Forty-four years ago, on February 11, 1979, the Iranian nation led by Imam Khomeini succeeded to oust the US-backed Shah regime and established the Islamic Republic of Iran based on the people's votes. 

Military attaches, as well as political, cultural, religious, scientific, and academic figures, took part in the celebration of the 44th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution's victory held at the Carlton in Moscow on Thursday night. 

Among the guests were Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, President's Aid for Science and Technology Andre Forsencov, Deputy Minister of Defense Alexander Fomin, and President's Aid for Economic and Energy Affairs Igor Levitin who congratulated the occasion to Kazem Jalali, Iran's Ambassador to Moscow. 

Speaking in the ceremony Novak said the celebration symbolized the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the declaration of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a new system.

Novak also called the 1979 revolution a turning point in the history of the world and Iran, calling Iran a key actor in global politics and an important part of the global economy, and of the most important cultural and religious centers in the world.
