Tehran (IP) - The 41st edition of the Fajr International Film Festival kicked off with 'Ostad' (Maestro) which premiered on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.

Iran PressIran News: 'Ostad' screened a social story and pictured one of Iran's social subjects. It is an adaptation of Orleana written by David Mamet. 

Being a feature film, 'Ostad' has been set in Yazd, directed by Emad Hosseini.

Hassan Majouni, Sajjad Babaei, and Mehdi Abu Hamzeh played roles in the film.

Before screening 'Ostad', the secretary of the 41st  Fajr International Film Festival said: "Despite the problems in recent years in Iran, including the COVID-19 pandemic and other issues such as a little delay in the production process of the country's cinema works, perfect films will be screened".

Amini emphasized the holding of a promising festival and expressed hope the festival would be economically effective and fruitful.

Also, in a press briefing with the film staff, the producer, Behrouz Afkhami highlighted the film was perfectly made and attracted the audience very much.

As the other keynote speaker, the film's director, Emad Hussaini stressed: "'Ostad' has its message for anyone."

Hussaini further stressed: "I have made the film because the subject seems to be increasingly observed in many societies."

The international film festival is scheduled to be held in February (1-11, 2023) in Tehran in two competitive sections and one non-competitive section.
