Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said Russia sees no other alternative to 2015 nuclear deal and warns parties to refrain from pushing Iran to withdraw from the deal.

Iran Press/Europe: "Russia, like practically all nations, stands for keeping the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) in place. We see no alternative to this agreement. We call on everyone to refrain from steps that might push Iran towards withdrawing from this deal", Russian media quoted Dmitry Peskov, Russian president’s press secretary.

He stressed "We think that it would have adverse impacts and we condemn the United States for its withdrawal from the JCPOA,"

Peskov noted that, unlike UNSC sanctions, US’s anti-Iranian restrictions that are not legitimate from the point of view of international law and must not be an obstacle for us to continue our bilateral relations and trade-and-economic cooperation with Iran.

According to Kremlin spokesman, Russia is building mutually beneficial and quite close relations with Iran, which is playing an important role in regional affairs and in the Syrian settlement. "It is absolutely illogical and inadmissible to turn a blind eye on Iran’s role," he noted.

Earlier on November 7, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov commented on new round of the US sanctions against Iran and said: "As for the US measures against Iran, they are absolutely illegitimate. They are taken as a flagrant violation of the UN Security Council's decision."

On May 8, US President Donald Trump pulled US out of the JCPOA. Following the US exit, Iran and the remaining parties launched talks to save the accord. By illegal withdrawal of US from JCPOA, it becomes the main violator of UNSC resolution 2231.

Since the deal was signed, the IAEA has confirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s compliance with its commitments in 13  successive reports. Yet, Iran has always stressed that it would continue to abide by the JCPOA as long as other parties  and the EU could guarantee the country's economic interests. 212/103
