Algiers (IP) - Referring to the high level of political relations between the two countries, the speaker of the parliament and his Omani counterpart stressed the promotion of economic and commercial relations between Iran and Oman to the highest levels.

Iran PressMiddle East: According to the Iran Press news agency, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of Iran's Parliament, on Sunday met with the Speaker of the Omani Parliament, Khaled bin Hilal bin Nasser Al-Maawali, on the sidelines of the 17th meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), while expressing his satisfaction with the friendly relations between Iran and Oman.

In this meeting, Qalibaf said: "Friendly and brotherly relations between Iran and Oman have been established for the past decades."

The Speaker of Iran's Parliament stated: "The establishment and development of bilateral relations between Iran and Oman, as well as with other countries in the region and countries outside the region is a part of the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that the relations between Iran and Oman as two neighboring countries, is an example and model for relations with other countries."

The Head of the Iranian Legislature also stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran seeks stable peace and friendly relations between neighboring countries in relation to its neighbors and has never been and will never be a threat to Islamic and neighboring countries."

Khalid bin Hilal bin Nasser Al-Maawali also stated that Oman and Iran have long-standing relations, which are rooted in the history of the two countries, regardless of their geographical location, and said: "Historical relations between Oman and Iran show the commonalities between the two countries."

The Speaker of Iran's Parliament has traveled to Algiers, the capital of Algeria, to participate in the 17th meeting of the Union between the Councils of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The 17th Conference of the Union of Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) kicked off its work on Thursday in the form of committees such as the Executive Committee, the Palestine Committee, and the Human Rights, Women, and Family Committee.

The main ceremony of this summit started on Sunday (January 29) at the venue of international conferences in Algiers with the presence of heads of parliaments of member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Representatives of the parliaments of 54 countries and presidents of parliaments of 17 countries are present in this meeting.
