Tehran (IP) - The Secretary of Iran's High Council for Human Rights notes that Western countries exploit women as a tool to exert pressure on independent countries.

Iran PressIran news: Meeting with Namizata Sangare, the Secretary-General of Côte d'Ivoire's National Human Rights Council, Kazem Gharibabadi said that the West was trying to impose its standards on other cultures and ignore the cultural differences of the world's nations.

Namizata Sangare traveled to Iran and participated in the first international congress of 'Women of Influence' held in Tehran on Friday.

Gharibabadi said: "Women in the Islamic Republic of Iran play a significant role in political, economic, social and cultural fields, and the protection of human rights is the top priority of the Islamic Republic of Iran."

He said that the Iranian nation was under unilateral sanctions and that if the Western countries were really concerned about the rights of Iranian people, including women and children, they should stop sanctioning Iran.

The Iranian top human rights official told his African counterpart that the West advocated human rights on the one hand, and gave shelter to terrorist groups like MKO, which claimed the lives of 17,000 people in Iran.

Sangare, for her part, appreciated the congress and said that the event transparently showed the status of women in Iran and the key role they played in family, society, and politics.

The first international congress of 'Women of Influence' hosted 300 foreign guests, including 70 top women figures including ministers, vice presidents and members of parliament, to listen to the voice of the Iranian women, away from the media propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
