Tehran (IP)- In a phone call with the High Representative of the European Union's foreign policy, Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs called the EU's recent anti-Iran measure a kind of Europe shooting itself in the foot.

Iran PressIran News: Following the issuance of the interventionist and unconventional draft resolution of the European Parliament against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union's foreign policy, had a telephone conversation and exchanged opinions.

In this telephone conversation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while strongly criticizing the emotional approach of the European Parliament, considered it inappropriate and incorrect.

Amir- Abdollahian added: "Unfortunately, today we witnessed the issuance of an emotional, sharp and unprofessional draft resolution by the European Parliament, which is in conflict with political rationality and civility."

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran emphasized: "We have said many times that the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps is an official and independent institution that plays an important and vital role in providing Iran's national security and the security of the region, especially in the fight against terrorism.

Amir- Abdullahi added: The action of the European Parliament in accusing this security-creating organization of having a terrorist essence is a kind of Europe shooting itself in the foot.

Referring to the legal and strong reaction of the Islamic Council of Iran, the Minister of Foreign Affairs warned the European Parliament to think about the negative consequences of this emotional behavior on Europe and to focus on the path of diplomacy, constructive interaction, and rationality.

The head of Iran's diplomacy continued to point out: "It is necessary to respect mutual security in the world of diplomacy and instead of following the language of threats and unfriendly actions, increasing mutual trust should be on the agenda. In any case, the response will be mutual."

In this telephone conversation, the high representative of the European Union's foreign policy expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing diplomacy regarding the nuclear agreement and said:" I will continue my efforts to reach an agreement."

Borrell added: "I am happy to hear the news of cooperation between the International Atomic Energy Agency and Iran and the optimism in this direction."

Referring to the situation in Ukraine, Borrell said: "Following our recent talks in Jordan, I told Ukraine that it is important to hold a joint technical meeting between the two countries.

Borrell added:" I also agree that emotions and concerns prevail in the draft of the European Parliament."

Borrell further added: "Although the European Parliament is a completely independent institution, this resolution lacks executive capacity and only reflects the concerns of Europe."

In this call, the parties also addressed the latest status of the agreement to lift the sanctions, developments in Ukraine, and consultations between the International Atomic Energy Agency and Iran.
