Tehran (IP) - Iran Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Britain's Ambassador to Tehran in reaction to the UK's unconventional interventions in Iran's internal affairs, including judicial process and national security.

Iran Press / Iran news: The Iranian foreign ministry on Saturday summoned the UK Ambassador to Iran Simon Shercliff over the remarks by the British authorities about Iran's internal affairs.

Earlier on Monday, British prime minister Rishi Sunak reacted to the execution of Alireza Akbari, a former Iranian official for espionage charges.

Alireza Akbari, double Iranian-British citizenship, was sentenced to death on charges of "spreading corruption on Earth" (Spreading corruption on Earth that threatens social and political well-being" and extensive actions against the country's internal and external security through espionage for the British government's intelligence agency, was executed.

In response to Britain's unconventional interventions over Iran's national security, including the newly executed of spy, Simon Shercliffe was summoned, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Saturday.

The Director-General of the Western Europe Office at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs referred to the precise evidence about the UK's intelligence services plans for the very spy Alireza Akbari, noting that the British government must be held accountable for maintaining connections with him that led to acting against Iran's national security.

"Unwarranted and mischievous patronage of the spays is not compatible with advocating of relations based on mutual respect," the Iranian top diplomat said.

While condemning any unusual and threatening action against the national security of Iran, the Director-General of the Western Europe Office called on the British ambassador to reflect the protest to London as soon as possible.

Alireza Akbari, an Iranian-British national, who was sentenced to death on charges of corruption on earth and extensive action against the country's internal and external security through espionage for the British government's intelligence agency, was executed.

On the same day, British foreign minister James Cleverly said on Saturday Britain had imposed sanctions on Iran's Prosecutor General after the execution of British-Iranian national Alireza Akbari.

The British Foreign Ministry also announced that the Iranian Chargé d'Affaires in London has been summoned by the ministry.

In a meddlesome move, the French Foreign Ministry also summoned the charge d'affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the execution of a former Iranian official for espionage charges.

Iran’s judiciary has issued a death sentence against Akbari who was arrested by the intelligence forces on charges of spying for foreign intelligence agencies.

The trial of Akbari was held with the presence of his lawyer and the death sentence was issued based on “substantiated evidence".

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry in a statement on Wednesday afternoon provided further details about Akbari and his arrest.

It named Akbari, a former deputy defense minister, as “one of the most infiltrating agents of the spying service of the evil UK in the country’s sensitive and strategic centers,” noting that he was identified and arrested after a “long and multi-layered process” involving “counter-intelligence” and “deception operation.”
