Yemeni sources reported the assassination of a high-ranking officer affiliated with the Riyadh-backed government in Yemen's Marib province.

Iran PressMiddle East: Over the past years, dozens of security and military officials affiliated with the resigned government have been assassinated in Yemen, and in most cases, the Southern Transitional Council has been identified as responsible.

On Sunday, unknown persons assassinated Moaz Al-Bakhiti in charge of the operations of the Saudi-affiliated Al-Islah militias in the El Alam in the northeast of Marib city.

The reason and motive of this assassination is still unknown.

Last month, unidentified gunmen assassinated Mohammed Al Jaradi, the adviser to the defense minister of the resigned government of Yemen (backed by Saudi Arabia) in Marib province, 170 kilometers east of Sana'a.

With the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates and several other countries, Saudi Arabia launched a military attack on Yemen in March 2015 and  since then sieged the country by land, sea and air. 219
