Iran Press/ Iran News: "Now we have the ability to produce radiopharmaceuticals and radiation systems," Mohammad Eslami, the vice president and head of the AEOI, noted.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Gamma Knife Center, Mohammad Eslami said: "We have only one company to produce radio-medicine, which is also sanctioned, but if we did not get the technology, we would face many problems in treating patients."
The vice president said: "In the past, some patients had to travel abroad for treatment, but now we have been able to take great steps in this field."
The head of the Atomic Energy Organization said: "In the not too distant future, we will become a hub for the production of deuterated drugs, which are a very suitable alternative to chemical drugs and have fewer side effects than other methods."
The Iranian Atomic Energy Organization has focused on the production of diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals, and we hope that with new methods and nuclear technology, we will be able to affect only the damaged cells without side effects on other cells, said Eslami.
He stated: "Another important step that has been taken in the field of gamma rays is that a system has been designed for the food and agricultural products sector, which destroys microbes, fungi, and the rest of toxins, with gamma-ray irradiation."
