Iran Press/ Europe: The 25th and 26th are holidays in Poland.
The Poles, whose religion is Catholic, prepared for the Christmas celebration since mid-December.
Catholics and Protestants celebrate Christmas on December 25th, and Orthodox Christians celebrate it on January 7th.
Celebrating Christmas on January 7 dates back to 1582 when astronomy scientists during the Roman pope Gregory XIII’s era noticed a mistake in calculating the length of the Greek solar year. Buying a pine tree, lighting, and decorating the streets of Warsaw indicate that the Polish people are getting ready for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Attending church and performing thanksgiving ceremonies are other traditions of Polish people during these days.
Other Christmas rituals in Poland include holding events in schools and neighborhoods and giving gifts.
