The IRGC's public relations department announced on Thursday that five of the 12 Iranian border guards abducted by terrorists at a border post near the city of Mirjaveh, in southeast Iran, have returned home after spending 36 days in captivity.

Iran Press/Iran news: The Public Relations department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) announced in a statement on Thursday the safe return home of five of the 12 Iranian border guards, including local Basij volunteer forces, who were abducted by the so-called Jaish ul-Adl terror group near the Pakistan-Iran border point of Mirjaveh on 16 October.

The five border guards who have been freed and returned home on Wednesday night were: "Zabir Rigi", "Saeid Notizehi", "Rasoul Gomshadzehi", "Mohammad Motamedi", and "Mehrdad Abar-Azad," according to an Iran Press report.

The statement stresses the continuation of efforts and consultations with the Pakistani side to ensure the safe return of the remaining abducted guards.

The IRGC had confirmed that 12 Baseej (volunteers) and border guards were kidnapped by a terrorist group on Tuesday morning October 16,2018. The incident had happened about 50 kilometers from the town of MirJaveh in Balouchestan of southeastern Iran, very close to the border with Pakistan.

 “With concerted efforts of the Pakistani LEAs and armed forces, 5 abducted Iranian guards have been safely delivered,” had said Foreign Office spokesperson Muhammad Faisal in a Twitter post, on  November 15.

“They are in good health, being handed over to Iranian authorities,” the spokesperson added. “Concerted efforts under vigilance of the military leadership are on, to recover the other guards,” Iran Press had reported.


On the same day,  commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps Major General Mohammad-Ali Jaafari says Pakistan-based terrorists have released 5 of the 12 Iranian border guards kidnapped last month.211/103
