Iran Press/ Middle East: Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, the former commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), traveled to Iraq on January 3, 2020, at the official invitation of the Iraqi authorities, along with Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, the former commander of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) or (Al-Hashd al-Shaabi) and eight other people in the US terrorist attack, were martyred near Baghdad airport.
The Iraqis announced that they would commemorate the third anniversary of the martyrdom of Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis under the title of "Martyrdom and Authority" by holding special programs in Iraqi cities for twenty days.
The first program to commemorate the martyrs of the commanders is to set up a special exhibition in Baghdad.
Speaking about Soleimani's personality and character, Hadi al-Amiri, the leader and secretary-general of the Badr Organization, said: "The extraordinary experiences of the martyr in various fields of resistance led to the qualitative growth of the Iraqi People's Mobilization so that the PMU has become an essential support for the Iraqi military and the reason for the victory of the Iraqis."
Sheikh Ahmad Al-Tamimi, one of the Iraqi Sunni scholars, told Iranpress on the sidelines of the ceremony that Iraqis have gathered today to honor the memory of the martyrs of the axis of resistance.
He noted that martyrdom and governance are rightly befitting of those whose pure blood was shed for the sake of Iraq, and I attended the ceremony on behalf of the Iraqi Sunni Mufti.
Hamzeh Raazi, the exhibition's curator, said the purpose of the exhibition was to introduce the culture of martyrs to society and familiarize the young generation with the culture.
