Tehran (IP) - Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) condemned the resolution adopted against Iran in the United Nations Security Council, considering it a reflection of the hypocrisy of its adopters.

Iran PressIran News: Canada's anti-Iranian resolution, which is presented every year in the UNSC under the pretext of human rights , was approved on Thursday evening with 80 votes in favor, 29 votes against, and 65 abstentions at the United Nations General Assembly meeting.

The spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Nasser Kanani said on Friday that the founders of the anti-Iran resolution themselves violate all the basic principles of human rights in the world.

Kanani said: "Instead of hypocritical sympathy for the human rights of the Iranian people, they had better to stop their complicity with the US administration's economic terrorism against the Iranian nation and hosting terrorist groups."

He noted that the observance of human rights is of the Islamic Republic's legal and religious principles, and Iran is ready for dialogue on the basis of mutual respect to improve human rights and international commitments.

In 2020, 277 people were killed by a firearm in Canada, at a rate of .73 per 100,000 people, according to Canada's National Statistics office. That same year in the United States, more than 19,000 people were killed at a rate of 5.9 per 100,000 people due to gun violence, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.
