After losing a symbolic game to the US at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Carlos Queiroz, Iran's Team Melli head coach, wrote on his social media page that he is proud of his players for their commitment and effort in training and matches.

Iran PressIran news: The US football team scored one goal in the first half of the most symbolic match of the Qatar World Cup, defeating Iran and qualifying for the next round.

Iran only needed a point to advance, but the US had largely restricted the Iranians to playing on the defense, and with their win, the US has finished two points behind Group B winners England to reach the last 16 for the fifth time since 1994.

"The dream is over with this result," Iran coach Carlos Queiroz said after the game. "The US started the game much better than us, more quick with better control of the game."

Carlos Queiroz, who led Iran's Team Melli in two other World Cups back in 2018 and 2014, managed his team to win the game against Wales 2-0 in Qatar.

Queiroz praised Iranian players and wrote: In football, there is no that thing of moral wins, but nothing immoral when you don't achieve your dreams.
