Iran Press/ Iran news: Mohammad Shia al-Sudani arrived in Tehran on Tuesday while leading a political-economic delegation to have consultations with the Iranian authorities.
Al-Sudani met with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi upon his arrival.
Iraq's Prime Minister met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, on Tuesday afternoon.
In the meeting with Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, Ghalibaf stated that the Iranian government, nation and parliament wish to support a safe and advanced Iraq with all their might, and added: "Iran and Iraq are two neighboring nations that have deep religious, economic and cultural roots with each other, and these connections have brought the two nations very close together."
Iran's Parliament speaker went on to say that Iran and Iraq are two very prominent and unique countries in the region, adding: "Undoubtedly, Iran and Iraq can establish a deep and broad relationship between Arab and Islamic countries for cooperation, although the Zionist regime and the United States are against this bilateral cooperation between Iran and Iraq."
In this meeting, Ghalibaf also mentioned the unilateral and illegal US sanctions against Iran and said: "Although today the US imposes pressure on Iran with economic sanctions, according to them; Iran has passed the peak of these hardships."
In this meeting, the Prime Minister of Iraq also called for the expansion of Iraq-Iran relations by stating that his visit to Tehran is the result of deep-rooted relations between the two countries.
On behalf of the Iraqi government and people, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani thanked and appreciated the Iranian government and people for all the support they have given to Iraq since 2003, the last manifestation of which was the confrontation with the ISIS terrorist group. 219
