EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn will be in Turkey on 22 November for talks on a range of issues including Iran.

Iran press/ Europe: The Turkish delegation will be led by Foreign Affairs Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, IRNA reported.

At the Dialogue, they will discuss all issues of common interest and concern, among them key foreign policy issues such as developments in Syria, Iran, and Iraq

They will also discuss bilateral relations between the EU and Turkey, cooperation on migration and counter-terrorism and other important sectoral issues.

EU has expressed opposition to US unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA and always reiterated support for the international accord.

Currently, it is preparing a mechanism of Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to ease banking transactions between European companies and Iran.

Despite US President Donald Trump's hostile policy towards the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker said  on October 6, that the EU should remain strong on its' commitment to the historic Iran nuclear deal.

More over,  Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said  on  October 22,  that Donald Trump administration could smoothen the way for dialogue by adhering to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and stopping its' unilateral sanctions.

Earlier on October 24, The Turkish foreign minister said his country has conveyed to the US the necessary demands to get an exemption from sanctions against Iran.

Cavusoglu said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had previously mentioned that Turkey is importing natural gas from Russia and Iran and if it does not have more options, the country would have to continue taking gas from those two countries.

He went on to say that despite US withdrawal , European countries did not withdraw from Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), adding, "it means that they value this deal.”

The first round of American sanctions took effect in August, targeting Iran's access to the US dollar, metals trading, coal, industrial software, and auto sector. A second round, forthcoming on November 4, will be targeting Iran's energy sector and financial transactions.203/102
