Tehran (IP) – Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday summoned the UK Ambassador to Tehran, Simon Shercliff, for the fourth time over an attack on the Iranian embassy in London.

Iran PressIran News: According to the announcement of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the attack of a violent group on the Iranian Embassy's compound in London and disrespecting the Iranian flag there, the UK ambassador to Iran was summoned to the foreign ministry in Tehran on Sunday to lodge a protest.

Simon Shercliff was reminded of UK’s commitments in accordance with the 1961 and 1963 Vienna Conventions.

The Iranian foreign ministry also strongly protested the UK's failure to prevent the aforementioned attack.

The UK envoy, for his part, expressed regret over the incident and promised to convey Iran's protest to his government.

This was the fourth time that the UK ambassador to Tehran is summoned by Iran over the past two months.
