A 4.6-magnitude earthquake jolted 42 km northwest of Bandar Abbas, Hormozgan province, southern Iran on Friday evening.

Iran PressIran News: According to Tehran University's Institute of Geophysics, the epicenter of this earthquake was 27.39 degrees north and 56.16 degrees east and at a depth of 18 kilometers.

The earthquake shook Bandar Abbas for a few seconds at 10:14 PM and the local authorities are on high alert.

Officials have started preliminary measures to determine the dimensions of this earthquake.

There are no reports of possible casualties and damage from the earthquake.
