The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) closed door meeting over Zionist regime airstrikes on Gaza Strip failed even to reach an agreement or only issuing a statement on how to deal with a fresh wave of deadly attacks against the population of Gaza.

Iran PressMiddle East: The majority of UNSC member states said the body “should do something,” with some suggesting a visit to the region, but no decision was taken.

Kuwait, which represents Arab countries at the council, and Bolivia requested the meeting following the worst flareup in Gaza since the 2014 war between Hamas and Israel, Press TV reported.

Addressing reporters after the 50-minute meeting, Palestinian Ambassador Riyad Mansour said the council was "paralyzed" and had "failed to shoulder its responsibility" to take action to end the violence. "There is one country that is not allowing discussion at the council," Mansour told reporters, in a reference to the United States, which has taken a pro-Israeli stance under President Donald Trump.

In recent days, Gaza witnessed the worst flare-up of violence since the 2014 war. The violence broke out when the Israeli military launched an undercover raid against Gaza on the weekend and killed seven members of the Palestinian resistance movement (Hamas) then followed by deadly air and artillery raids against Gaza Strip residential areas.
