Lebanon (IP) - The Leader of Lebanon's Hezbollah said the Resistance stipulated the extraction of oil and gas from Karish was possible only after an agreement that met Lebanon's demands.

Iran PressMiddle East: Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered a speech on Saturday evening to speak in detail about recent political developments and the maritime border demarcation.

Sayyed Nasrallah said: "Given the three presidents’ stance, the Resistance decided that it won’t allow the enemy to extract oil and gas from Karish before reaching a settlement that meets the official Lebanese demands."

Yair Lapid’s government was neither able to go to war nor to cancel extraction from the Karish Field, and this is why he was forced to go for the negotiations, Nasrallah said to further elaborate on the issue.

He said: "The Americans also were under pressure since their priority meanwhile is the Russian-Ukrainian war, and the US mediator Amos Hochstein has said that the fear from the war led to reaching a settlement."

The Lebanese top figure noted that in some cases, the negotiations have reached dead ends and a war was about to break out, he added.

Sayyed Nasrallah said: "Lebanon has attained the important achievement of lifting the US ban on the oil companies' operation in the Lebanese waters."

"The ‘Israeli’ enemy didn’t obtain any security guarantees in the document, which is an achievement scored for Lebanon."

Nasrallah stressed that none would be able to extract oil and gas if Lebanon is prevented from doing that, adding that this rule will govern the upcoming stage.
