50 members of the European parliament have called on all parties involved in the war in Yemen to attend negotiations to end the war in Yemen. Also the participants at a peace summit in Paris on Thursday, urged all Yemeni sides to end the fighting.

Iran Press/Europe: Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) also called for a halt to sale of weapons to Saudi Arabia and to the Saudi-led coalition, according to an Iran Press report.

Participants in Paris summit also stressed  that all European countries should call for an end to fighting in Yemen.

Speakers at the meeting described the war that the Saudi-UAE coalition has initiated in Yemen as 'inconclusive and cruel', explaining the current catastrophic situation of the Yemeni people.

The Paris Conference was hosted by the French Parliament, attended by a number of European representatives and representatives of human rights organizations.

Earlier, the World Food Program had stated in a report on the humanitarian situation in Yemen that millions of Yemenis are on the brink of hunger, and that the conditions in the country are getting steadily worse, with each passing day.

The United Nations Secretary-General's special envoy for humanitarian affairs, Mark Lowcock, has also warned in a report to the United Nations Security Council about dire food shortages and the threat of hunger and starvation in Yemen.

The United Nations has also warned about more than three million Yemenis being at risk of hunger, due to the depreciation of the Yemeni currency, Rial.

Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates and several other countries, has been launching deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Nearly 14,000 Yemenis, including 5,000 women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign since March 2015.

Saudi Arabia has been using the precision-guided weapons provided by Washington to strike civilian targets in Yemen.

The military aggression of Saudi Arabia has also resulted in severe food and medicine shortages in Yemen -- one of the poorest countries of the Arab World.   208/103
